Many tourists dream of visiting a real space center. Igor Maximenk o set out to a true space tour to the Baikonur Cosmodrome. It's the world's first and largest operational space launch facility. This is where the first man-made satellite and the first manned spacecraft in human history known as Gagarin's Start were launched from. It's the only one Russian space launch facility that implement manned spacecraft programs. There left only two such space launch complexes in the Earth, they are the Cape Canaveral in the USA and the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in China. The construction of the Baikonur was started in the USSR in the year 1954. tens years later the Soviet Union collapsed, but Russia and Kazakhstan came to agreement in the year 1994 extending Russia’s rent term of the spaceport until 2050 with the city of Leninsk. The rent price is fixed at 115 million US dollars per year, on this account Russia supplies Kazakhstan with military and other equipment. 85 % of all the space launches in Russia are held from Baikonur's launch pads. Only this site may serve launches of heavy rockets «Proton» and «Zenit». Almost all the broadcast and communication satellites are launched from there. Cosmonauts arrive at Baikonur a month before start. They have several tasks, but the major one is preflight training that allow to prepare an organism for overwork and state of weightlessness. Even biological clock needs reorganization, suppose that a Russian, a Japanese and an American who used to live in different time zones have to exist in one space. This month is the last one as well for psychological squaring with crew and preparation for tests that will take place into orbit. A basic and a duplicate crews are trained and prepared up to the last preflight day. The decision who flies is taken by the special State Committee just some hours before start. This time the State Committee decided that this is crew with Russian cosmonaut Oleg Kotov, NASA astronaut Timothy Creamer, and Japan Jasca Soichi Noguchi. Don't miss the first in the history of world's astronautics night manned start on RTG TV channel.
