The Abazins are one of the original peoples to have settled in Karachay-Cherkessia. Nowadays they number at about 30,000 and work hard to preserve their traditions; recipes of national dishes are passed down from generation to generation and many household items from the past are still made today, just as they were hundreds of years ago.
