Many people believe all of these things to be symbols of one of Russia’s oldest cities, Tula. The inventions developed by weapon smiths from Tula are so countless that there is even a proverb: “Give a man from Tula a piece of iron and he’ll make you a miracle.” These men didn’t only make amazing weapons, but also famous samovars that can be found all over Russia and the world. And what is tea without a snack to go with it? At fairs Tula gingerbread played a valued role, especially in a city with many gifted bakers. Each one of them had their own unique recipe, which was a heavily-guarded secret.
