The Akhtuba is a large river full of fish and the left arm of the Volga. Come October the temperature in the area isn’t yet cold and the water temperature is just beginning to go down. It is at this time of year that the fish are getting ready for the cold winter and actively bite making it the perfect time to go fishing. Right nearby the village of Selitrennoe is the area of the Lower Three Rivers. Here the Akhtuba flows into the Ashluk and Kriyusha rivers. According to fishermen this is one of the best places to catch pike perch with some of them weighing up to ten kilograms!
