Four-time Olympic swimming champion, world champion and European champion Vladimir Salnikov has broken more than 20 world records. These facts make it difficult to believe that the «best swimmer on the planet», a title Salnikov held for many years, was once afraid of water. In hopes on not coming off as weak to the other young boys in his town that swam across the local river with ease, young Vladimir took up swimming. Once he started, he was hooked and this sport turned into his life passion. By the age of 24, Salnikov had achieved everything possible in the sport and was untouchable in the swimming ratings.
