The Commander Islands are a mysterious archipelago, a place unlike any other, lost in the endless waters of the Pacific Ocean. They are inhabited by strong and talented people. Sergei Pasenyuk is known by everyone on the Commander Islands.A hunter, ethnographer, naturalist, artist, writer and, on top of all that, a yachtsman who has crossed the Pacific Ocean single-handedly on several occasions. Sergei Pasenyuk lives on Bering Island, the largest in the archipelago. In the summer he paints landscapes here, while in the winter he works as a professional fisherman. In the breaks between these two occupations he cross the Pacific Ocean in his small yacht, The Alexandra. In a new film on Russian Travel Guide, Sergei Pasenyuk gives viewers an insight into the hunters and thinks of the Commander Islands, portraits of the Aleut native peoples and what's so special about reading a book to the accompaniment of ocean waves.
