Petergof

Petergof was the first seaside residence of the Russian emperors. It was built by Peter the Great in honor of Russia’s victory in the Great Northern War in which they fought for access to the Baltic Sea. Because of this, water is incorporated into many aspects of Petergof’s design and location. The most remarkable thing to see in Petergof is its overwhelming number fountains that run completely on natural pressure due to the difference in height. The Grand Cascade is located in the center of the park. It is an impressive ensemble of fountains with the famous Samson on center stage.
