Baked carp with potato and thyme

In Ancient ‘Rus there was not one house not equipped with a wood stove. The stove was central to survival, serving as a source of heat, a means to prepare food and even as a bed. Modern analogues of the massive Russian stove are more compact and no longer take up a large part of the house yet are still just as functional and convenient to use. Dishes prepared in these stoves acquire a specific taste and unique aroma. Russian Travel Guide host Natalya Krylova joined Alexei Travkin, the head-chef of «U kamina» (By the Fireside) restaurant to prepare a fish dish in a real wood-heated stove.
