The Georgenburg Stud Farm

Stud Farm «Georgenburg» is located 60 kilometers far from the most western city of Russia Kaliningrad. This is where the well-known Trakenen breed was cultivated. The history of the stud farm originates in the 18th century, when at the castle's walls East Prussia's state stables were constructed. In the preserved since the year 1939 guide-book it is pointed out the following: «Visitors are acquainted with a cement slab surrounded by trees. It's a reminder of the historical roadside pole which had been installed by Napoleon's order during his campaign against Russia and had been destructed by the Russians in the year 1914. It was about 2 meters in height with the distance directories: 18 miles to Koenigsberg, 96 miles to Berlin, 1 400 miles to Moscow». Today they cultivate in Georgenburg three breeds of horse - Golshtin, Hanover and Trakenen ones. Igor Vukolov appreciated th eir qualities at true value.
